For Canadians and many other countries throughout the world, Queen Elizabeth II was head of state for over 7 decades. She was devout in her faith, and often cited her dependence on the Lord for the exercise of her duties.

Paraphrasing an indigenous saying that she quoted at the opening of the commonwealth in 2011:

We are all visitors to this time, this place. We are just passing through. Our purpose here is to observe, to learn, to grow, to love… and then we return home.

Speech to the Commonwealth; 28 October, 2011

The Queen understood those words in the context of a deep rooted Anglican faith, and so she is remembered.

Adieu; to God.
