Dear Friends and Colleagues,
Our deepest sympathies are with the family and friends of Rev. Dr. Gary Nelson who passed away on Monday, January 22, 2024.
Gary was ordained to ministry in 1980 and served as a pastor at several churches in NABF member denomination Canadian Baptists of Western Canada (CBWC), as well as General Secretary at Canadian Baptist Ministries (CBM) for 10 years. He joined Tyndale University on July 1, 2010 as President and Vice Chancellor and served there until his retirement in 2020.
Significantly to our NABF family, he also served as a Vice-President of the Baptist World Alliance and the Chair of Baptist World Aid.
A celebration of life service will be held at First Baptist Church Edmonton at 1:00pm (MST) on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 (livestream link). The service will begin at 12:50pm with a pre-service slide presentation put together by Gary’s grandson, Garrett.
