Dear friends and colleagues,

A weather phenomenon called an “atmospheric river” has occurred in southern British Columbia and northern Washington state beginning November 13th till the present. This essentially means that precipitation has fallen to such a level (up to 12 inches/300mm in 24 hours) so as to create overwhelming flood conditions. The rainfall and the flooding have broken all historical records.

At this point, one person is confirmed dead and two are missing, having been carried away by mudslides. Vancouver, British Columbia is cut off by rail or highway from the rest of the country. Untold agricultural devastation will further disrupt the region’s food security and increase pressure on the region’s already strained supply chain.

Please pray for these people who are cut off from access to homes and for those who in the weeks ahead will need to assess and recover from the damage done.

In Christ,

Jeremy Bell
